"Coffee is a journey –
Come on, we'll take you with us!
Hi, I'm Simon, founder of SIMON & BEARNS and a Dossenheim native. After my apprenticeship as a tax clerk, becoming a tax advisor would certainly have been more financially lucrative. The problem was, it would have been too monotonous for me. That's why I initially opted for a business administration degree to broaden my options. In August 2016, this degree opened up a completely new perspective for me. Through a business plan, I was able to put my passion for coffee and self-employment into practice on paper.
Thanks to my Uncle Harry (a total coffee fanatic), I was introduced to the phenomenon and complexity of coffee at an early age. He made coffee a huge part of my life. Besides the idea of being self-employed, my stepfather's bakery was another reason to put the business plan into action. The bakery was my first sales channel and the perfect starting point.
So one thing led to another, and in January 2017 I founded SIMON & BEARNS. Absolutely cliché, but true: I started roasting in our backyard, naturally with Uncle Harry.
WHY DID I FOUND SIMON & BEARNS?
It's an absolute privilege to turn your passion into your profession. I love the diversity of coffee, but also the variety of my responsibilities at SIMON & BEARNS. Firstly, you get a complete view of the value chain – practically from the farm to the cup, as I like to say. And the best part: you even get to be a part of it. Secondly, the range of tasks involved in building and managing a company is incredibly exciting and diverse.
Victor about Simon
Simon has a clear vision of where he wants to take SIMON & BEARNS. He's very driven and meticulous. Sometimes it's not immediately obvious what he's planning. But when I see the progress and development of SIMON & BEARNS, everything he does makes perfect sense.
