La Reforma – On the origin of coffee
Finca La Reforma was founded in 1892 on the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano by Rafael Alvarez. Now owned by the Alvarez Diaz family, it is in its fourth generation of coffee cultivation. The Red Bourbon variety is grown at Finca La Reforma. The native trees provide natural shade for the coffee plants, which not only creates optimal conditions for improved soil quality but also offers additional protection for various bird species. The excellent growing conditions and the commitment to developing sustainable practices have helped the Diaz family harvest the finest coffee cherries. These are then processed at the El Borbollon mill, managed by Eduardo Alvarez, another family member.
